…don’t know when I’ll be back again. Oh, babe, I hate to go.
Actually, I do know when I’ll be back again, July 10. But I am getting ahead of myself. First there’s the leaving part, and I most definitely don’t ‘hate to go.” As many of you know, I’m going to the ‘land down under,’ Australia! My good friend and past critique partner, Skhye Moncrief, who used to live only 10 minutes away from me, moved to Perth last year because of her husband’s job. They have kindly invited me to come for a visit! So, tomorrow, June 23, I start my 24 hour journey. I leave Houston for Dallas (the short plane ride), have a few hours layover, then get on the big plane for the long flight….19 hours to Sydney (evidently with a previously unbeknownst to me stop in Brisbane. I thought it was a straight flight to Sydney, but the husband noted the reference on my plane ticket).
I land in Sydney at 8 a.m. and have only two things scheduled for sure: climbing 400 feet to the top of the Sydney Harbor Bridge and a dinner cruise in Sydney Harbor. A friend has recommended I dine at Doyle’s as well. Aside from that, I’ll do a tour of the city before leaving after 2 days for my flight to Perth. I’ll stay with Skhye and family for 2 weeks.
Plans for Perth include visiting the zoo, mall, a whale watching cruise, and a trip to a national park and a ‘walk in the treetops.’ Should be fun!
I’ll have limited access to a computer, but do hope to make a few posts while there, hopefully with pictures!
